How to Set and Achieve Goals [Part 2]
1. Start working towards your goals today.
The hardest thing to do in achieving your goals is taking the first steps. Start right now. Even if you don't know exactly what to do, start by feeling. Start working toward your goal. At the end of this step, you know you are on the way to your goal. The more you feel that you are making rapid progress, the more you keep working toward your goal.
For example, if your goal is “Eat healthy food,” go to the supermarket to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Remove junk food from the pantry. Find healthy food recipes online. These little things are easy to do and can be accomplished quickly.
To learn a new skill, you must first practice. If you want to be a great musician, you have to play the guitar and practice basic chords. First, read self-development books to help beginners learn new skills. Whatever your goal, there is a way to get started right away.
2. Follow the action plan. If you've followed the steps outlined above, you'll be well aware of the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. Now it's time to put it into action.
For example, if your goal is to buy a three-bedroom house, go to a real estate site to see if it meets your criteria or if there is a nearby home. Set a budget and find out how much money to pay. Start saving with savings to raise a deposit. Do not overdue utility bills and thoroughly manage credit to raise credit ratings.
3. Visualize your achievements.
Research has shown that visualization helps improve performance. There are two types of visualization: result visualization and process visualization. Visualize both results and processes to achieve goals.
To visualize the results, picture yourself attaining your goals. Draw yourself as vividly and detailed as possible. How do you feel? Who is celebrating? Are you proud? Are you happy?
To visualize the process, imagine the steps you must take to achieve your goal. For example, if your goal is to run a small business, picture each step you need to take to achieve that goal. Create a business plan, apply for a small business loan, attract investors, and so on.
Process visualization helps to count prospective memory in the brain. Psychologists say that this process helps you to think that you can achieve your goals because your brain is already feeling fulfilled.
4. Make a list. Review your goals every day.
Read your goals at least once a day. Wake up in the morning and read before going to bed at night. Each day, reflect on what you did to achieve your goals.
When you reach a goal, you don't completely remove it from the list. The goals you achieve are transcribed onto another list. Focus on goals you haven't yet achieved and forget those you've already achieved. Also, make a list of achievements. It will be a good motivator.
1. Get a map.
Find a mentor, someone who has already reached your goal and can give you advice. Mentors will know how to achieve their goals or what to avoid to succeed. Talk to your mentor often.
Same as a school. You don't have to study advanced math alone. It's much easier if you have a teacher, someone who knows the formula of success, helping you while you approach your goal, explaining how to overcome obstacles, and celebrating success. A good mentor will love the mentee and be proud of the mentee when they reach their goals.
